Good morning, Kindergarten!
You are almost first graders! I am so proud of you. We only have a few school days left of Kindergarten. Our Zoom class meeting today will include a Spanish lesson from Senora Raven and 20 Questions if we have extra time. Hope to see you there!
Today makes 151 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Listen to "Hey Honey Bunny" and sing along!
Today's Practice: Today, you get to open your own pretend store at your house!
First, you need to decide what kinds of things you will be pretending to sell. Here are some ideas: cookies, canned goods, pantry items, blocks, toys, drawings/artwork, rocks, buttons, toilet paper (or anything else you can think of!). 😀😂
Next, ask an adult if it's ok to set up a pretend store. Gather the item(s) you are going to "sell" and place them in your store. You can use your room, the kitchen table, or anywhere in your house that makes sense. Organize it and make it look nice.
Using your best handwriting, label each item in your store.
Add a price tag to each item. Each item should cost less than $1.00. Here are some examples of prices you might use: 25 cents, 3 cents, 51 cents, 40 cents, 80 cents, 35 cents, et cetera.
Invite your family members to come shop at your store. When they choose an item, they need to "pretend pay" you with coins. You are the store owner, so you need to count their coins and make sure it matches the price tag.
I would love to see your store. Please choose how you would like to share it with me. You can send a video of your store, a photo of the items you're selling, or a poster you've made to advertise your store. Add it to your Digital Portfolio.
Have fun!
Challenge (not required): Price the items in your store for more money!
Estimate: 15 minutes
ABC Warm-Up: Sing the ABCs.
Phonemic Awareness: For this week's practice, we are going to use BOOM cards to practice counting syllables! Remember, syllables are the parts of a word. Click here to access BOOM Cards. Scroll down your assigned decks list until you see "Syllables." There are 60 cards in this deck. You only need to do 15 cards each day this week. Click to practice!
Phonics: This week we are talking about blends! Blends are a cluster of two consonant sounds that are each heard when the word is spoken. They are different from digraphs because digraphs join together to make a new sound. Blends still keep their normal letter sounds! Today we will work on hearing the /pl/ sound in words.
Check out this picture I made of some PL words I brainstormed. Can you think of more? Draw a picture of a few PL words. You can use my words or think of your own!
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes
Handwriting: Look through these Inspirational Quotes for Kids and choose a few that you like. Write them carefully, in your best handwriting, then hang them up somewhere to admire!
Estimate: 15 minutes

We're going to continue working on your fairy tale writing today! Before you begin, review what you wrote yesterday. Then, retell your story out loud to someone. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and have fun writing! We will work on this tomorrow, too. Yesterday, you should have written your introduction (once upon a time) and a description of your first character and setting. Today, I want you to write enough of your story down to reveal the "problem" and the evil characters.
Estimate: 15 minutes
Click on this link to go through a guided review of the Butterfly life cycle. Think about butterflies and other insects as you review what you've learned! The type of butterfly shown in this lesson is a Painted Lady. That is the same as the class butterflies we are observing!
