Good morning, Kindergarten!
I hope you are having fun learning how to read clocks. It is such an important skill! Do you know the song Rock Around the Clock? Turn it up and DANCE!
Our Zoom class meeting will include a lesson from Senora Raven. She would like you to bring anything you've made from Spanish during the last few weeks, or think about something you've learned in Spanish that you want to share. If we have extra time, we will play 20 questions. Hope to see you there!
Today makes 137 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Count backwards from 30 to 0.
Today's Lesson: We're going to continue exploring analog and digital clocks today! Start by watching the story linked to the left: It's About Time. The young boy in the story shared his entire day with us! I want you to think back to the questions you answered yesterday like... what time do you wake up? What time do you go to bed? What time do you eat lunch?
Practice: You are going to create a time diary for your day! Ask an adult to write 3-4 digital times (example: 11:00, 2:00, 7:00), each on a different piece of paper. Read the time they wrote, and illustrate what you did/are doing/will do at that time (like in the story!) For an added challenge and way to grow your brain, try drawing an analog clock to match the digital! You can choose to do it all at once, or wait until the time actually happens in real life.
Challenge (not required): Matching Digital and Analog Clock Game
Estimate: 15 minutes
ABC Warm-Up: Get out your ABC chart. You are going to start with Z and go backwards up to A. As you point to each letter say the sound ONLY (not the letter name or the picture).
Phonemic Awareness: Today you will distinguish which 2 out of 3 words rhyme. Listen along with Mrs. Bradley!
Phonics: We are continuing to practice with our new digraph, CK. Listen and spell with Mrs. Bradley as you practice stretching out and writing down CK digraph words. Tomorrow, we will take an assessment to review what we've learned!
See what others are up to! Click on our class Padlet and add a picture of you or comment on your friends' pictures!
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes
Sight Words: Practice your sight words by choosing an activity off of this sight word choice board!
Estimate: 5 minutes
Estimate: 15 minutes
Instead of using DanceMat Typing, our class will begin working with TypingClub. TypingClub is an educational program that will help students learn to type quickly and accurately on a standard computer keyboard. It also allows students to track their progress and it breaks the typing skills into smaller, more manageable lessons. Also, it supports the use of an app! Click here for iPad app instructions.
To log in to your child's TypingClub account, go to the following login URL:
Your child's username is their first name in lowercase letters. For example, my username would be "marissa".
LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK! Then you should be able to get started typing!
Estimate: 15 minutes
What is your favorite food? Think of your answer, and then survey anyone else around you to see what their favorite food is. Is it the same as yours or is it different? (Mrs. Bradley's favorite food is chicken and dumplings!).
Now, I want you to answer the question... Where does your favorite food come from? Does it come from a grocery store? From your dad? From a box? Where does it come from before that? And even, possibly, before that?
Now, I want you to look through the picture deck to the left and think about how the pictures relate to food. What do all of the pictures have in common? (Yes, they were taken on a farm!). Just about ALL of the food we eat comes from a farm. How cool is that?? Now, think back about your favorite food, can you trace it back to a farm?
Per a special request made by a Kindergarten friend, visit Señor Wooly’s website to create your very own account! Your unique code is 9WJAUF and I’ve attached a pdf with instructions, plus it includes some information about the website. I’ve unlocked all the Billy La Bufunda videos so you can watch one or all for música miércoles!
Pregunta del Día: What’s your favorite Billy La Bufanda video and why?
No music today. See you Thursday!
Add to your weather chart each day.
