Good morning, Kindergarten!
Today is Wednesday. Sometimes April Fools day can be full of tricks or surprises! Keep your eyes wide open today! Today makes 128 days of Kindergarten. Do jumping jacks while you skip-count by 10s to 110 or higher!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Math Warm-Up: Count the doors in your house. Count the windows. Count the people. Count the animals. Count the forks!
Today's Lesson: We are talking about how to use number lines when subtracting by counting back. Follow along with Mrs. Bradley by watching the video!
Practice: Subtraction Number Line Worksheet (if you don't have a printer, create your own practice problems!)
Challenge (not required): Pacman Subtraction Game
ABC Warm-Up: You'll need a partner for this. Sit behind your partner and "write" a letter on their back. They have to guess which letter you wrote! Go back and forth until you've both had 5 turns.
Phonemic Awareness: Listen to Mrs. Bradley and help her blend individual sounds into words.
Phonics: Read the SH words in the slideshow linked to the left. After that, choose one SH word to write 5 times using your best Summit handwriting and lowercase letters.
See what others are up to! Click on our class Padlet and add a picture of you in your favorite spot (at home or where ever you are!)
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Sight Words: Practice your sight words by choosing an activity off of this sight word choice board!
It's time to share what you've been working on! Put the finishing touches on your How To Book. Ask an adult to film you reading your finished book and showing the illustrations. Send it to Mrs. Bradley or upload it to our class Padlet so we can all celebrate each other's writing!
Today you are going to research the jobs of the parts of the plant! Draw a picture of a plant and label these three parts:
Leaves
Stem
Roots
Now, visit these links to read and learn more about what each part does. When you are ready, add a sentence to describe the function (job) of each part of the plant. Send Mrs. Bradley a picture of your work or upload it to our class Padlet.

Find a comfortable spot to sit down outside. Pay attention to the things you're feeling... are you sitting on any rocks? Can you feel the breeze? Is the grass tickling your leg? Discuss what you feel. Close your eyes and listen very carefully; try to identify the sounds you're hearing.
Add to your weather chart each day.
Print out this picture dictionary of la primavera vocabulary. Each box has a word in Spanish, then in English, so that your parents can help you know what to draw in each box and how to say each word in Spanish. Señora Raven is working on figuring out the best way to record herself to make sure you’re saying each word correctly (some of these words can be super tricky to say!), so stay tuned!
Pregunta del día: How do you say rainbow in Spanish? (arco iris)
No Music today. See you on Thursday!
Week 2 | Remote Learning Resources and Strategies | Grades PreK-K
Animal Studies: Bears
Click on the blue link that says: Take Me There
Click on the Story: “A Bear Cub Grows Up”(at the top you can click on Read Along)
*If you have time “Bear Snores On” is very cute and the video about Bedtime for Bears is really interesting too. You could even make a bear den for nap time and take your stuffed animal teddy bear for a nap buddy!
Art Assignment: Draw or paint a picture of a bear. Maybe include some baby bear cubs too. When you are creating your drawing thinking about these questions and illustrate the answers by including them in your picture. Make sure you add the bear's habitat.
Where is your bear? What do they eat? What does their den look like?
No PE today. See you on Thursday!
