Good morning, Kindergarten!
Did you answer our question of the day? Now that we're teaching and learning from home, I sleep in a little bit longer than I used to. Charlotte usually wakes me up by 7:00 am because she is ready for breakfast! Do you get to sleep in longer than you used to during the regular school year?
Our Zoom class meeting will include a scavenger hunt. Hope to see you there!
Today makes 136 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Review your 3D shapes! You can play this game, or look for 3D shapes in your home.
Today's Lesson: Today we will continue to explore time. Time can be measured in seconds, minutes, and hours. Try these timed challenges (if you need a timer, use this one).
How many times can you clap in 1 second?
How does it feel to jog for 1 minute?
What do you think you'll be doing in 1 hour? (make a prediction) Set a timer for 1 hour so you can see if you were right later!
Watch this short video with Mrs. Bradley as she talks about the hands of the clock and how to read to the "o'clock."
Next, enjoy this story called The Clock Struck One.
Practice: Now, you are a clock detective! Use this worksheet or make your own to answer the questions.
Challenge (not required): On Time Digital Game
Estimate: 15 minutes
ABC Warm-Up: Click on the flashcard deck to the left. Say the sound for each letter or letter combination. Try and do it quickly, but correctly!
Phonemic Awareness: Listen with Mrs. Bradley to practice determining if the words rhyme or do not rhyme!
Phonics: Today we are starting a new digraph!!
When 2 letters join to make 1 sound, it is called a digraph. Listen along with Mrs. Bradley to learn about our new digraph, when to use it, and to see some sample words! Your job will be to choose 5 of the CK words and illustrate them on your own paper. Write the word to go with each picture.
See what others are up to! Click on our class Padlet and add a picture of you or comment on your friends' pictures!
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes
Skills: Complete an episode of Headsprout on Kids A-Z.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes.
Estimate: 15 minutes
Log into your Summit Google Drive account at www.google.com/drive.
Go to your Digital Portfolio Shared Folder.
Click on your "Typing Practice" document you created yesterday to open it.
Today, your job is to write a short informative (true) story about yourself in this document. Introduce yourself, tell me your age, and tell me about something you like. Here's an example.
Now, practice typing by following along with these lessons for at least 10 minutes.
Estimate: 10 minutes
Using playdough and toothpicks or craft sticks (or whatever you have at home), choose something to create off of the challenge board to the left!
Add to your weather chart each day.
Señora Raven created a video to help you with your pronunciation of all the words from the picture dictionary! I hope you feel transported into the Spanish classroom. :)
Pregunta del Día: Do you remember how to say umbrella? (el paraguas) What about leaf? (la hoja)
