Good morning, Kindergarten!
We do not have school tomorrow, it is a "teacher work day" for meetings and working on things. That means today is like a "Thursday/Friday!" Your job is to try and get your work done from throughout the week, and to complete your sight word assessment. Let me know if you have any questions!
Our Zoom class meeting will include a game called "5 Second Rule." Hope to see you there!
Today makes 143 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Sing along with Jack Hartmann to this song "Let's Learn About the Clock."
Today's Lesson: We are continuing to discuss how to tell time to the half hour. Watch along with this video to review time to the hour, half-hour, and then get some practice at the end!
Parents- Please send me an email or text regarding your child's comfort and skill level reading clocks to the hour and the half-hour. (Whether or not you feel your child would benefit from more teacher-directed instruction and practice.

This link should automatically connect you to our classroom. Now, navigate to your name. Click to sign in. Your password is "thesummit." Scroll down to see "Decks Assigned." Click on the sight word level (or spelling word level) you believe you last mastered. An adult will need to help you complete the assessment by clicking whether you read (or spelled) the word correctly or incorrectly. Feel free to complete as many levels as you can. When you miss 2 or more words on a single level, you need to practice that level for a few days before moving on. Mrs. Bradley will be able to see your progress.
It's THURSDAY/FRIDAY! You know what that means!! Finish any unfinished work from throughout the week. Mrs. Bradley will be sending an email summary of complete and incomplete work. When that's all done, find something creative and fun to do! Share a picture on our class Padlet!
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes

How are chickens born? The chicken life cycle starts with an egg. The mother hen broods (or sits on) her eggs for about 3 weeks while the embryos incubate (the baby chicks grow and form inside the egg!). Then, the chick uses their egg tooth to break out of the shell. Their soft baby feathers are called down.
Do you know any other animals that are born from an egg? What animals are not born from an egg?
Listen to this book Chickens Aren't the Only Ones by Ruth Heller.
Animals that are born from eggs are OVIPAROUS. Animals that are born alive are VIVIPAROUS. I like to remember that Oviparous means born from an eggs because the letter O reminds me of an egg shape!
Now, I would like you to choose 3-5 oviparous animals (from the book or otherwise) and illustrate a picture of them on a sheet of paper. If you want, you can watch this video of a cute baby chick hatching while you work on your drawing!
Estimate: 10 Minutes
