Good morning, Kindergarten!
Yesterday it was one of our classmate's birthdays....Felicity! Be sure to send Felicity a message by adding to our class birthday card for her! (Felicity, be sure to click back in at the end of the day!) Our Zoom class meeting today will include a directed drawing lesson to practice drawing self-portraits. Hope to see you there!
Today makes 140 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Get your brain warmed up with some clock practice!
Today's Lesson: We are going to use BOOM cards to assess your current understanding of how to tell time at the hour. Click here for the Telling Time Boom Deck. Mrs. Bradley will click in to see your progress!
Challenge (not required): Play around with this online clock. We will start learning how to tell time to the half-hour tomorrow. Can you create times such as 5:30, 11:30, and 6:30? What other times can you create?
Estimate: 20 minutes
ABC Warm-Up: Play some alphabet hopscotch! To play outside, create a hopscotch track and write the letters out of order. Hop on each letter while making its letter sound. Add digraphs, too! To play indoors, ask an adult to give you a letter each time you jump and you can respond with the correct sound.
Phonemic Awareness: Today we're going to talk about syllables! Listen with Mrs. Bradley to practice segmenting syllables in words.
Phonics: We're learning vowel digraph /oo/. Like /oo/ in good and /oo/ in school. Listen along with Mrs. Bradley! First, you'll stretch words out, then later, you'll practice writing them down.
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes
Skills: Log into IXL to practice Language Arts skills. Work on Section E - Syllables for at least 15 minutes. Move on to another section if you finish early! Mrs. Bradley will be able to see your progress.
Estimate: At least 15 minutes
Estimate: 15 minutes
We are going to work on writing Bio Poems this week! A Bio Poem is a short type of writing used to tell a little about yourself. There are important sections in a Bio Poem that need to be included, such as: your name, things you love, things you dream of, and more! Check out Mrs. Bradley's draft to the left. Today you're going to work on drafting your ideas. Use this template or a blank piece of paper to draft your work. Be sure to sound out each word carefully! Keep your draft in a safe place. You're going to need it tomorrow!
Estimate: 20 minutes
Read this book called From Farm to Table. You'll need to scroll through to see the pages. After you read, be sure to discuss the last page of the book. It asks, "How do you think these foods get to your grocery store?" (Eggs, carrots, oranges)
Now, watch each of these short videos to see if you can learn anything new!
When you're done, think back to your favorite food. Were you able answer the question "Where does it come from?" last week? Can you try answering it again today?
Estimate: 10 minutes
Listen to this audio track to learn about making a safe place in your mind.
