Good morning, Kindergarten!
Happy May Day and happy Friday! May Day is celebrated on the first day of May. If you would like to learn more about it, click here! Our Zoom class meeting will include Show and tell and a caterpillar update. Hope to see you there! PS- have you thought of your gratitudes lately?
Today makes 148 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Estimate: 20 minutes
Math Warm-Up: Listen to "Hey Honey Bunny" and sing along!
Today's Lesson: Today we are going to combine what we've learned about pennies, nickels, and dimes. Get your coins out and mix them up. With your eyes closed, can you pick up a coin and feel it to determine which coin it is? Do you know its value?? Now sort them into piles according to their value.
If you want to listen to the catchy songs from earlier this week, here they are:
Practice: Log into IXL and work on section U-Money for at least 15 minutes. Mrs. Bradley will be able to click in and see your progress!
Challenge (not required): Matching Money Game
This link should automatically connect you to our classroom. Now, navigate to your name. Click to sign in. Your password is "thesummit." Scroll down to see "Decks Assigned." Click on the sight word level (or spelling word level) you believe you last mastered. An adult will need to help you complete the assessment by clicking whether you read (or spelled) the word correctly or incorrectly. Feel free to complete as many levels as you can. When you miss 2 or more words on a single level, you need to practice that level for a few days before moving on. Mrs. Bradley will be able to see your progress.
It's FRIDAY! You know what that means!! Finish any unfinished work from throughout the week. Mrs. Bradley will be sending an email summary of complete and incomplete work. When that's all done, find something creative and fun to do! Share a picture on our class Padlet!
Happy Friday! Write about anything today! Be sure to use finger spaces, best Summit handwriting, lowercase letters, and end punctuation.
Estimate: 15 minutes
Warm up your brain by clicking here to put the stages of the butterfly life cycle in order. Did you do it?
The insect life cycle starts with the EGG.
The second stage in the insect life cycle is the LARVA. For a butterfly, we call the larva a caterpillar.
The third stage in the insect life cycle is the PUPA. For a butterfly, we know this stage as the chrysalis.
The fourth and final stage in the insect life cycle is called the ADULT. (Or in this case, an adult butterfly!)
What are the four stages of the insect life cycle? (Egg-larva-pupa-adult)
Watch the video (to the left) of our class caterpillars. What stage of their life cycle are they currently in? (The 2nd stage, LARVA).
Now, I would like you to watch this awesome video of the LADYBUG life cycle. Did you notice all of the same stages as the butterfly?? (egg, larva, pupa, adult). All insects have this life cycle!
Estimate: 10 minutes
