Good morning, Kindergarten!
Today is Friday! Which answer did you choose for the question of the day? I think I would go with a purple nose. Take a survey of the people in your house. What would they choose? Draw a silly portrait of each person with their new colored nose/ears!
Today makes 130 days of Kindergarten!
Love,
Mrs. Bradley
Next week, we will start using Google Drive to create and organize your Digital Portfolio. This is where you will "turn in" any assignments for Mrs. Bradley to see from now on. Parents, I have emailed your child's log-in information to you. Please visit the "Digital Portfolios" tab to learn more and see tutorials about how to access your child's Digital Portfolio on Google Drive.
Unfortunately, it seems as though the "Sights" website I shared last week is down for the foreseeable future. Bummer! Hopefully, the new platform will be a trustworthy new solution. Watch the video to the left or read how to get started below.
This link should automatically connect you to our classroom. Now, navigate to your name. Click to sign in. Your password is "thesummit." Scroll down to see "Decks Assigned." Click on the sight word level you believe you last mastered. An adult will need to help you complete the assessment by clicking whether you read the word correctly or incorrectly. Feel free to complete as many levels as you can. When you miss 2 or more words on a single level, you need to practice that level for a few days before moving on. Mrs. Bradley will be able to see your progress.
Math Warm-Up: Countdown from 30. Start really LOUD and get quieter and quieter with each number, all the way down to zero.
Today's Lesson: Subtraction problems aren't always written from left to right! Watch today's video with Mrs. Bradley to find out another way to write subtraction problems.
Practice: Your assignment is included in the video. Write these problems vertically and solve.
6 - 1=
10 - 7=
4 - 4=
15 - 3=
Challenge (not required): Number Line Fruit Splat
You can choose a story online or ask someone to read to you. Here are some websites with online stories:
See what others are up to! Click on our class Padlet and add a picture.
Read-to-Self: Read books that are "just right" for you... not too hard and not too easy. You may use the books Mrs. Bradley sent home with you, other books at your house, or Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) books by logging in on the iPad or computer. Read for at least 15 minutes.
Skills: Log into IXL to practice Language Arts skills. Work on Section A - Letter Identification for at least 15 minutes.
Happy Friday! Write about anything today! Be sure to use finger spaces, best Summit handwriting, lowercase letters, and end punctuation.
I was so impressed with the plant part diagrams that I saw! Great job, Kindergarten students! Today's lesson focuses on how a tiny seed can become a plant. Check it out!
It is actually really simple to germinate your own beans at home! If you want to try it, you'll need dry beans, a paper towel, and a plastic zip bag. Check out the instructions here. You will see the process described in today's video come to life right before your eyes!
It's FRIDAY! You know what that means!! Finish any unfinished work from throughout the week. When that's done, find something creative and fun to do! Share a picture on our class Padlet!
Try out "Square Breathing" by watching the linked video.
Add to your weather chart each day.

Ask your parents if they have any maps at home - maybe they can hang one in a special place so that you can find Ecuador or Venezuela anytime you want!
Have your parents print out the flag of Ecuador (parents, don’t forget to switch your settings over to landscape). Make sure you color the flag so that it matches the mini flag on the paper. Should I see morado or rosado on your flag? No way, jose! :-) Here’s a close-up of the emblem in the middle.
Pregunta del día: What are the main colors on the flag? How do you say them in Spanish? (amarillo, azul, rojo)
No Music today. See you on Monday!
Week 2 | Remote Learning Resources and Strategies | Grades PreK-K
Day 8: Earth Science: Rocks and Minerals
Watch the Story: “Sylvester and the Magic Pebble”
Read the Book: Rock Collecting
Art Assignment: Draw a picture that shows Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.
*If you have time, take a walk and collect some small pebbles(rocks) and glue them down to create a picture. You can also draw or paint on them or around them.
Watch the video Rocks and Minerals and draw some of each.
No PE today. See you on Tuesday!
