Federation Boccia
A group of year 1/2 children took part in the yearly federation Boccia event at Wood End Park Academy. During the event the children took part in a wide range of activities which had been designed and tailored to match all needs.
Children displayed amazing resilience through out and had the opportunity to demonstrate a wide range of fundamental skills they had been learning in PE. The children had an amazing day and left Wood End park with huge smiles on their faces and a shiny medal. Well done to everyone and thank you Wood End Park Academy for hosting.
National Football Tournament
A group of girls in year 5/6 travelled to Bishop Gate school to participate in the Berkshire Schools Football Tournament. During the tournament the girls came against some really tough schools who had a different number of academy players. Despite this the team pulled together and starting to display amazing team work something we strive for at Western House Academy. Throughout the day the girls really developed and learnt so much from playing against real tough opponents. Overall the girls finished 3rd. I am delighted for the girls and I personally can't wait to see them develop further this year.
SSSN Indoor Athletics
This half term a large group of children years 5/6 took part in the Indoor Athletics competition at Herschel Grammar school. Throughout the day the children competed two field events and two track events. In every event the children would compete against other schools to earn points. The points would then be added together to give Western House an overall score. Overall the children managed to accumilate 222 points , this meant they managed to secure 4th place. This is an amazing result especially when a lot of the team had never taken part in an Athletics event before. The children displayed amazing teamwork and supported each other throughout the event. Well done to all children and a big thank you to SSSN and Herschel Grammar for running the event.
Year 3/4 Dodgeball Tournament
A group of children from year 3/4 took park in the annual Federation Dodgeball tournament at Montem Academy. The tournament saw 8 federation school's come together and compete in 7 different Dodgeball matches designed to give everyone equal opportunities to compete. The team throughout the day showed amazing Teamwork , something we work hard on in PE lessons. Despite coming against really tough opponents the children came together and made it all the way to the semi finals. After coming against the overall winners of the tournament in the semi finals and narrowly missing out on a finals opportunity the children finished joint 3rd which in itself is an amazing achievement. The children had an amazing day and really displayed the school value of TEAMWORK!

Year 5/6 Boys Cricket Tournament
8 children from year 5/6 along with a year 4 child travelled to Uxbridge Cricket club to take part in the boys Federation Tournament. The boys played 5 matches overall making it all the way to the final for the second year running against Godolphin. The boys had won every game in their pool and unfortunately narrowly missed out in the final securing 2nd place. Despite the heat the boys played well as a team and all of their hard work and practice was displayed throughout.
Well done boys on a great day of Cricket. A big thank you to Cranford Park for organising and a big thank you to Uxbridge Cricket club for allowing us to use their facilities.
Year 5/6 Girls Cricket Tournament
Girls from years 5/6 travelled to Uxbridge Cricket club for the annual girls Federation Cricket tournament. The girls played a total of 4 games winning two of them. The girls throughout Summer 1 had trained really hard for this both during lunch times and after school. The progress they had made in such a short space of time was amazing to see on the day. A real reflection of their determination and resilience. The girls worked incredibly well as a team despite the weather and coming against some really well drilled teams. Overall the girls secured 5th.
