Year 3

Whole Class Ensemble skills

The children are introduced to playing as a whole class in Year 3. This is then built upon in Years 4, 5 and 6 and forms an essential part of the children's knolwedge in Key Stage 2. 

Learning to Read Standard Notation for Rhythms 

Playing instruments with increasing accuracy 

Understanding staff and other notations (non-standard)

Playing musically with increasing confidence

Keyboard Skills 2

In Year 3, the children learn how to improvise using the five notes in the Asian pentatonic scale. 

Working as a pair, one person plays the melody and one person accomnpanies by programming the keyboard.
