Attendance
Attendance is taken each class period in Middle School
It is very important for students to be at school
Regular school attendance increases academic success
Time Management
Time management is a lifelong skill
If students have not had responsibility with managing time and tasks summer is the perfect time to start practicing leading up to the start of 6th grade. Examples could be:
A list of chores to be completed by the end of the day or week
Practicing scheduling their activities and when they will complete household responsibilities
Start practicing with an agenda
Agendas
Using an Agenda is SO IMPORTANT!!!
Getting into the habit of writing everything down is key to middle school success!
If students have never used an agenda before summer is a great time to start practicing
Students should write down homework at the end of every period. Teachers give the last 2-3 minutes for students to write homework down.
Highlighters can be helpful for color coding different activities
Doing it regularly and consistently will make it a habit
Student agendas are on sale in the Elementary Front Office for $5 or you are welcome to purchase the larger size on your own
Tutoring
Tutoring offered in every Core Middle school class
Afterschool times are available for sign-up on individual teacher Canvas homepages
Saturday sessions available by invitation only
Students should come prepared with questions/needs

Canvas
All Middle School students have a chromebook and use the Canvas Platform for learning
Each student will have their own Canvas account
Parents can sign up to have a parent observer account
Parent PowerSchool & Parent Canvas Accounts
