Attendance

  • Attendance is taken each class period in Middle School

  • It is very important for students to be at school

  • Regular school attendance increases academic success

Time Management

  • Time management is a lifelong skill

  • If students have not had responsibility with managing time and tasks summer is the perfect time to start practicing leading up to the start of 6th grade. Examples could be:

    • A list of chores to be completed by the end of the day or week

    • Practicing scheduling their activities and when they will complete household responsibilities

    • Start practicing with an agenda

Agendas

  • Using an Agenda is SO IMPORTANT!!!

  • Getting into the habit of writing everything down is key to middle school success!

  • If students have never used an agenda before summer is a great time to start practicing

  • Students should write down homework at the end of every period. Teachers give the last 2-3 minutes for students to write homework down.

  • Highlighters can be helpful for color coding different activities

  • Doing it regularly and consistently will make it a habit

  • Student agendas are on sale in the Elementary Front Office for $5 or you are welcome to purchase the larger size on your own

Tutoring

  • Tutoring offered in every Core Middle school class

  • Afterschool times are available for sign-up on individual teacher Canvas homepages

  • Saturday sessions available by invitation only

  • Students should come prepared with questions/needs
