Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I request a transcript?

      • Transcripts can be requested from Mrs. Tucker. There is no fee if you request an electronic submission of a transcript (through SendEDU or Common App). However, if you need a paper transcript sent, please fill out a green form (in the front office). Please note that there is a $5.00 fee per paper transcript requested.

  • I got an acceptance letter. Do I need to let anyone know?

      • We LOVE to brag about you! Any senior accepted into college and/or receives scholarships and financial awards, please send, drop off, or show a copy of your letter(s) to Mrs. Tucker.

  • What are the application deadlines?

      • Here are the application deadlines for all NC Schools.

  • How do I know if my grades and scores will meet admissions requirements for specific schools?

      • You don't know until you apply, but here is a handy chart of previous freshman classes at NC schools. Each year is different so use this only as a guide!

Senior Tips

  • Visit the colleges you are applying to whenever possible. You want to find the best fit for you.

  • Decide how you are going to apply to each college: through the college website, CFNC, Common Application, Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success.

  • Make sure you know your deadlines. Stay organized. Keep all your college application, scholarship information and financial aid information in one place.

  • Make sure you send your test scores directly to the colleges through SAT and ACT websites.

  • Don't forget to submit each application fee.

  • For community college students, make sure you sign up to take the placements tests. Community colleges may have application deadlines for specific departments. Make sure you submit your application in time.

  • Letters of recommendations from teachers and the counselor must be requested in a timely manner. Ask them first if they are willing, then provide them with your high school resume. A stamped addressed envelope is nice to give and provide at least 5-10 days for them to complete your letters.

  • It's OK for teachers and others not to allow you to read the recommendations they write for you.
