Extension Work

Each week you should supplement the core elements of the A Level French course with some other materials that stretch your exposure to the language as well as consolidate and build on your understanding of the mechanics of the language.

These materials could take many forms and might not necessarily be directly related to the topics you are studying on the A Level course. They should include things that you personally find interesting and even entertaining. You could, for example, aim to watch a French film each week with your friends or family or get into a French series on Netflix. Another great activity would be to check out the front pages of the major French newspapers several times a week. Spending half an hour working on a particular aspect of grammar or coming to a clinic would also be a very worthwhile activity.

Check the links page on the departmental website for recommendations and suggestions of materials you could use to stretch yourself. Don’t restrict yourself to content that only emanates from France, there are large and diverse francophone communities out there, literally a whole new world to discover.
