Conditional Mood
There are three major groups of regular verbs which can be told apart by their ending. These simple forms of the verb are called infinitives.
-ER verbs (e.g. regarder)
-IR verbs (e.g. finir)
-RE verbs (e.g. vendre)
There are some verbs which have minor but predictable irregularities.
Unfortunately, some verbs are completely irregular and unpredictable – you will have to learn these individually.
THE CONDITIONAL MOOD
This is a very useful and is usually translated in English by “WOULD”
E.g. WOULD you like to go to the cinema
If I lived in America, I WOULD go to New York
He said he WOULDN’T have time to go to the shops
To form:
FUTURE STEM + IMPERFECT ENDINGS = CONDITIONAL
It also translates “SHOULD” and “COULD”
