Every middle school student deserves a place where they feel welcomed, valued, and connected.
The Harbor Experience was created to be more than an after-school program.
It's a community where students build authentic friendships, discover their strengths, serve others, and grow into compassionate, confident young leaders through meaningful experiences.
Built on Christian values of kindness, compassion, service, and integrity,
Whether a student is outgoing or quiet, adventurous or cautious, confident or still discovering who they are...
There is a place for them here.
Our Story
The Harbor Experience began with a simple observation:
Middle school can be one of the most exciting—and one of the most difficult—times in a young person's life.
Students often face pressure to fit in, fear of failure, loneliness, anxiety, bullying, and the challenge of discovering who they are.
Many families are searching for something more than another activity.
They're looking for a community.
The Harbor was created to be that community.
A place where relationships come before performance.
Where kindness matters.
Where every student has something valuable to contribute.
Where growth happens naturally through shared experiences, service, creativity, adventure, and encouragement.
Our hope is that every student who joins Harbor leaves knowing they are capable, valued, and deeply loved.
The Harbor Experience exists to create a safe, welcoming community where students in grades 5–8 build authentic friendships, discover their strengths, develop leadership and life skills, and make a positive impact through service, adventure, and shared experiences.
To become our community’s benchmark specialized service, fostering middle school belonging, skill development, and compassionate leadership through service.
Everything we do is guided by a few simple beliefs.
Meaningful relationships create the foundation for learning, confidence, and growth.
Students develop leadership, communication, resilience, and life skills by actively participating—not by sitting through lectures.
We intentionally create a culture where students are known by name, encouraged, and treated with dignity and respect.
Helping others builds empathy, gratitude, responsibility, and purpose.
Trying new things helps students discover strengths they never knew they had.
Harbor isn't school after school.
It isn't childcare.
It isn't just another youth group.
It's an experience-based community designed specifically for middle school students.
Every Harbor Voyage blends:
Meaningful friendships
Community service
Outdoor adventure
Creative projects
Leadership development
Practical life skills

Learning happens naturally while students are engaged in experiences that matter.

🙌 Service
We believe serving others helps us discover purpose and build stronger communities.
Some students walk into a room and immediately make friends.
Others need a little more time.
Some love the spotlight.
Others prefer to observe before joining in.
At Harbor, there is room for all of them.
Students are never pressured to become someone they are not.
Instead, we meet them where they are, celebrate their unique strengths, and gently encourage them to keep growing.
Because belonging isn't something students earn.
It's something they experience from the moment they arrive.
Every student who walks through Harbor's doors is someone's whole world.
We will treat them with the care, dignity, hope, and respect they deserve.
Every decision we make—every activity we plan, every policy we write, every apprentice we train—is guided by that belief.
Our goal isn't simply to create memorable experiences.
It's to create a place where students feel safe enough to be themselves, brave enough to grow, and confident enough to make a difference.
At The Harbor Experience, they won't just attend a program.
When people ask me why I started The Harbor Experience, the answer is simple.
I believe every middle school student deserves a place where they know they belong.
As a parent, I've watched my own children navigate the joys and challenges of growing up. Some of my children have incredibly sensitive hearts. I've seen what it feels like when kind, thoughtful kids wonder if they are enough because they aren't the loudest, the fastest, the smartest, or the ones everyone seems to notice.
I've also spent years working with children and families, and one thing has become very clear to me.
So many young people are searching for connection.
Many are surrounded by people, yet still feel alone.
I worry that we've become so busy, so distracted, and so connected to our screens that we've forgotten how much we need one another.
I worry that empathy is becoming harder to find.
I worry that respect for parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors, and those who have wisdom to share is slowly fading.
I worry that many young people are missing opportunities to discover what they are capable of because they simply haven't been given meaningful experiences to try.
At the same time, I have tremendous hope.
I believe every child has unique gifts waiting to be discovered.
I believe confidence grows when students are trusted with real responsibility.
I believe leadership is learned by serving others.
I believe life skills aren't best taught through lectures—they're learned while cooking a meal, planning a service project, solving a problem together, leading a team, or encouraging a friend.
I believe work ethic grows when young people experience the satisfaction of creating something meaningful.
Most of all, I believe every student deserves a safe place where they don't have to pretend.
A place where they can take their time.
Where they are welcomed before they have to prove themselves.
Where kindness is expected.
Where character matters more than popularity.
Where they can find their people.
That is why Harbor exists.
Not to create perfect kids.
Not to keep students busy.
But to help young people discover who they are, build meaningful friendships, develop confidence, serve others, and grow into compassionate adults who make their communities better.
Every student who walks through Harbor's doors is someone's whole world.
We will never forget that.
Every decision we make will be guided by that belief.
It is my prayer that years from now, Harbor won't simply be remembered as a place where students had fun.
I hope it will be remembered as the place where they discovered they belonged.
Welcome to Harbor.
I'm so glad you're here.
