Community Service Ideas

(This list is not inclusive and other community service opportunities may also be available.)

Volunteering your time and talents at local:

· Nursing Home/Care Center

· Assisted Living Home

· Hospital

· Church

· School

· Museum

· Senior Center

· Library

· Non-Profit Organization

Ideas for helping others:

o Do yard work (rake, shovel snow, mow, garden work)

o Clean local park or ditches

o Read to others or clean at library

o Get groceries for elder or disabled

o Help at youth sporting events

o Score board

o Line judge

o Concessions stand

o Coach

o Help at a local non-profit

o Offer your time to clean

o Offer your time to organize

o Offer your time to help with a project they may be working on


The required amount of community service hours for graduation:

60 hours if you start school as a freshman here at S-O

45 hours if you start school as a sophomore here at S-O

30 hours if you start school as a junior here at S-O

15 hours if you start school as a senior here at S-O


A friendly reminder for community service hours you may not receive hours for helping any family members (parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts/uncles, cousins.)

You also may not receive any hours for fundraising.

Lastly you may not receive any form of compensation for the work you did to receive the community service hours.
