English information
on FERRY

FERRY is the first automatic ferry for pedestrians and cyclists in Europe and was launched in the Municipality of Teylingen aan de KAAG by The Future Mobility Network and Next Generation Shipyards. It can hold up to 12 persons with bikes. Fully operates on the sun and four electric engines that can move in any direction. Ferry is connected and automated.

The deployment started in the summer of 2021 with a subsidy of the Province to allow more people to recreate in the open air and keep distance on the one bridge that provides access to the Island Koudenhoorn near the village of Warmond.

In 2022 FERRY was improved with buttons that give the control to the users (call, start/stop) who can activate FERRY. FERRY is remotely supervised and has backup controls from our operations centre. Furthermore different payment options for rides will be tested and deployed at two locations this summer. FERRY has a bigger brother ship that supports the research work we do to improve FERRY and integrate different payment options.

FERRY's can be rented for periods up to ten years to support your local application. Please contact us for a feasibility scan, implementation plan and rental offer/agrement.
