The Green Teen Alliance (GTA) aims to facilitate discussion between high school environmental clubs in the Charlottesville area and contribute to meaningful, coordinated environmental action within the schools and greater community.

GTA members advocating for climate funding in Albemarle's FY26 budget
Organized a grassroots petition to improve recycling and composting practices in the Albemarle County and Charlottesville City Public Schools, which received almost 300 signatures. We're currently working with the schools to implement our recommendations: email the School Boards to keep the petition on their radar and highlight its importance!
Successfully advocated for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors to pass Virginia's most climate-friendly solar ordinance.
Helped the Peabody School plant a native pollinator meadow at Darden Towe Park.
Successfully advocated for $300,000 to be reserved for climate action in Albemarle County's FY26 budget.
Increased youth and community engagement around environmental issues by tabling at events like C3's Party for the Planet and appearing on NBC29.

All Charlottesville, Albemarle, and Fluvanna-area high schoolers are welcome to attend, even if you are not part of your school's environmental club!
Meetings occur monthly during the school year at the C3 office and via Zoom from 5:30-6:30pm*
Great opportunities to get involved with the Community Climate Collaborative's local work, and information about youth resources, events, and volunteer opportunities that support local sustainability
*The day of the week when meetings occur may vary based on member availability. Meeting details will be sent out in an email each month.
