Health and Social Care BTEC is about working with people. Often when a person is going through a difficult time in their life, it is a health or social care professional that will step in and help them to make choices, encourage independence and enable them to get their life back on track.
If you are excited about the prospect of a career where your skills and knowledge can make a real difference to a person’s life, then this is exactly the course for you!
The Health and Social Care sector is vast with a wide range of career opportunities. Gaining the BTEC Tech Award will enable you to go on to further study at Level 3 or an apprenticeship, opening up possibilities of careers such as: nursing, dental nursing, midwifery, childcare, primary teaching, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, mental health, youth work, working with the elderly and many others.
For Health and Social Care students the employability skills you will develop include the ability to analyse and critically evaluate information as well as effectively communicate with different groups, individuals and organisations. You will learn how to put together well-judged arguments and question asumptions, in addition to working as part of a team and taking responsibility for others. These transferable skills are applicable to a wide range of careers both within and outside the Health and Social Care sector.
