Making the Final Decision
Now that you have all of the information, it's time to make a decision...
UPDATE - Options Google Form now live
Please see below the Option Blocks that have been created ahead of you making your final decision. Once you are confident you have made your final decision, please complete the form via this link. You will have to log in with your school google account, and your parents must add their details to confirm they are aware of the decisions you have made.
Final Decision Making Process
We want you to make an informed decision about your KS4 Options subjects. You should be collecting information about subjects, careers, courses that you may want to do, as well as having discussions with teachers, friends and family. You will be able to submit your final choices from Monday 20th March until Thursday 30th March.
A link to the form to complete these will be posted on this page on Monday 20th March.
How do I select my Option Subjects?
We recommend that you choose a Pathway based on what you want to achieve from your subject choices. When you have your One-to-One meeting, the member of staff will help to explain this further if you are unsure. You also have until after the half term break to make your final choice, so you can look at the information about the different subjects, talk to your teachers, talk to older students who are currently taking the course, and speak to employers at the Careers Convention.
You will also be asked to make two reserve choices in case we cannot accomodate your first choice. If this happens we will always talk to you before coming to any final decision.
The Core Curriculum
The following subjects will be studied by ALL students in Years 10 and 11:
English Language and Literature GCSE
Mathematics GCSE
Science GCSE (Biology, Chemistry and Physics as Combined Science or taught as Separate Sciences)
Religious Education GCSE
Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education*
Physical Education (Core)*
*These two courses are not examined qualifications
Additional Information
If a group is oversubscribed we will talk to individuals to discuss alternative options. If a course remains oversubscribed, we will make a random selection to ensure fairness, and use reserve choices where necessary
After submitting their option subject choices, if a student feels they have made the wrong choice and gives a reasoned and informed case to change options, with a supporting letter from parents, then this may be accommodated, provided that the chosen course is suitable and there are spaces available on the course. These requests should be brought directly to Mrs Sargent (k.sargent@tgsboys.com). No changes can be made after that.
