This course covers 2 strands of the NZ Digital Technologies Curriculum:
Computational thinking (algorithms, programming and sorting/searching data)
Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes (information management and design).
In Senior School the programme continues in the Computer Science course, which involves increasingly more complex problems, structures and syntax, requiring a high level of logical thinking and effective practice to meet the needs of the end-user.
10DGT will study:
The planning and development of:
Spreadsheets and graphs (MS Excel or Google Sheets)
Websites (HTML and CSS)
Programming (Scratch and/or Python)
The theory of computer science (how a computer works and stores data):
Sorting and searching algorithms
Binary notation and parity bits
DGT leads you to a variety of career pathways, such as: Computer Programmer, Website Developer, Business Analyst, Systems Manager, Systems Architect, Computer Engineer.
