Tewksbury Schools are ALLERGY AWARE
Please notify the CAFETERIA STAFF, SCHOOL NURSE, TEACHERS and COACHES of any life threatening allergies.
Avoiding the allergen is the best way to prevent allergic reactions.
With a medical note and advanced notice, the CAFETERIAS can accommodate your student's dietary needs.
Please provide the school nurse with a DOCTOR'S NOTE listing any allergies for your child.
If your child needs an EPI PEN, provide updated orders and the injectors every school year to the school nurses.
School staff is trained every school year in epinephrine delivery. They can administer epinephrine to students with medical orders.
Latex
Please be reminded that Latex is NOT permitted in school, due to Life Threatening Allergies. Occasionally science kits may contain latex products, and balloons used for decorations, crafts and games that call for balloons are going to contain latex. The powder that keeps latex from sticking can cause the allergic reaction in someone with the latex allergy. They do not have to come in direct contact with the balloon to have a life threatening reaction. All parts of the school and the school buses and vans need to be safe for our staff and children with allergies.
Some people are allergic to Bee Stings or Wasp Stings. Being allergic to one does NOT usually mean you are allergic to the other. Know the difference!
