Engine Cadet Britney U. Arnejo is proving that technical mastery knows no gender. A proud graduate of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II (9/10/2025 - 10/29/2025) at the Provincial Training Center - Carmen under Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), Britney is now navigating the maritime industry with Cebu Ace Maritime International, turning her technical knowledge into the practical grit needed to keep a ship running.
Before her TESDA journey, Britney faced the challenge of limited hands-on experience during her college days, where equipment was scarce and practice time was short. She chose to enroll in TESDA to bridge that gap—transforming her "book smarts" into the confidence to handle real-world welding, maintenance, and repairs onboard.
Beyond the torch and the mask, Britney shares that her greatest takeaway wasn’t just the technical current adjustments or safety procedures, but the power of a positive attitude, teamwork, and effective communication. “𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑔𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒,” she says. “𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑛 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑛𝑏𝑜𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝, 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔.
