At TPPS, we believe in reducing our footprint. To do this, we make sure our waste is either reused, recycled or minimised. To achieve this we:
use Ecobins to assist students in separating their waste so that we can decrease the amounts we send to landfill. Bins include a small landfill bin, and large paper recycling and commingled (similar to your council recycling bin at home) recycling, and a compost bin.
collect food scraps throughout the week to add to our outdoor compost bins. Here it is broken down into amazing organic fertiliser for our school gardens. We also use in ground outdoor compost bins that are helping to improve the soil in our orchard area.
encourage families to assist us in becoming a ‘Waste Free School’ by packing waste - free lunches and asking students to take any food packaging that cannot be recycled or composted, back home.
