Art with Mr. Essick
Visual Arts
Students will study the Visual Arts curriculum in my classes. I have taught 2-d and 3-d Art for over 15 years. Some of my students have won contests, such as the prestigious Congressional Art Award, and had their work on display in the Library of Congress. Our objective is to master our understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Students of any level of skill can be successful in my course if they focus on personal growth and the lesson objectives.
The course will be taught according to the Classical tradition of Art education, and will introduce several mediums such as graphite, charcoal, acrylic paint, water color, printmaking, and collage. Students will learn perspective, realism, cartooning, abstraction, and pop art. Students will also learn about a diverse range of historically important artists that pair with the mediums that we are learning to use.
