Techedify Digital Literacy Course Guide

Welcome to the Techedify Digital Literacy Program! We are excited to help you develop essential technology skills that will empower you to confidently navigate the digital world.

I. Eligible Residency Areas

To qualify for this program, you must 18 years or older and reside in one of these communities:

II. Course Requirements

Complete 10 modules and 8 hours of ACTIVE learning (in-person/online) within eight weeks after sign up.

After your first orientation session, you can complete the remaining coursework at home or in a computer lab. You need to complete the 10 modules that are timed. If you do not meet the time requirement, you will not receive your certificate of completion.

We have added 7 additional Gen AI optional modules with a user coupfor both advanced learners and as a reward to our participants. Modules 11-17 are not required and optional. You will be given a coupon code for this upon completion of the program free.

III. Chromebook Pickup

Once the course requirements have been completed, the final section in module 10 titled “Picking Up Your Chromebook” will give you instructions and access to select a time to pick up your chromebook on the first or third week, at a session.

You will also receive a certificate and email reminding you to select one of the class sessions during the first or third week of the month to pick up your Chromebook.

Please select a pickup date and write 'Picking Up Chromebook' in the comment section. This lets us know to prepare it for when you come to pick it up. If we don’t know you're coming, it may cause delays and your Chromebook may not be ready to pick up.

Please notify us by the Sunday before the first or third week for pick up to make sure your designated chromebook is on site. To ensure we are able to have enough chromebooks on site for pick up, if not we will not have your chromebook available.

If you schedule on a week that is not the first week of classes for pick up. A chromebook will not be onsite and your registration for that class will be canceled.

How to change google translate to another language

1. Open the Google Chrome browser. Find the three vertical dots (the menu icon) located on the top right corner and click it. A menu will appear and click ‘Settings’.

2. Click on ‘Languages’ on the left menu. Click on "Add languages" and search for the language you prefer and click "Add".

For this example: If you want to change it to Spanish, select Spanish (or "Español") in the list. Select the version of Spanish you want (e.g., Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), etc.) and click "Add". It will automatically move it to the bottom of that Preferred Languages Box.

3.) Click the three vertical dots where the newly added language is and ‘Move to the top’.

Once the language you prefer has been moved to the top of the list, click the three vertical dots again and check the box that says ‘Display Chrome in this language’.

When that has been checked, it should say ‘This language is used to display menus, settings, alerts, and other text in Chrome’.

4. Under the Google Translate section, select the language you want from the drop down menu.

Then click the ‘Relaunch’ button from the Preferred languages section. It should be translated to the language you selected.

5. Double check on the main page by right clicking with your mouse on the techedify.com page. It will bring up options translate your to your desired language. Make sure it says your language. You can click "Translate to (Your Language Here)

6. You will see 3 dots you can click which will give you options to select another language to translate to. Make sure you select to always translate to your selected language.

How to Log In and Get Started

To access the course, follow these steps:

1. Go to https://www.techedify.com/

2. Click ‘Sign in’ on the top right corner and enter your login details. If you registered via Calendly, your password is ‘Techedify#1’.

3. If you did not receive a coupon code, a facilitator must verify eligibility.

4. If you have trouble logging in, reset your password, and check your email for instructions to reset it. If you do not see it, check your spam/junk folder for the reset email.

Note - Passwords are required to have one capital letter, one number, one special character(#$%), and be at least 8 letters long.

Signing up for the CASF Adult Literacy Class once registered on Techedify.com

Select the ‘Courses’ on the top right section once logged in.
You will select modules and open up more to find the course Digital Literacy Training Program (CASF Grant for Adult Beginners). Click more to expand to more courses if not visible.

3. Click the ‘Digital Literacy Training Program (CASF Grant for Adult Beginners)’ course and you will be taken to an overview of the course.

4. Select any portion of the course and it will open an enroll now option.

5. Fill out the following required information: Name, Address, City, Zip Code, Country as United States. A coupon code will be provided for you by the facilitator based upon your area of eligibility.

6. Upon registering you will be able to start the course by clicking the course and activating it.

7. In the bottom right corner, there is a chatbot called Janus. You can use Janus any time if you have any questions about the course.

How to Check Your Progress

1. You can see what items have been completed with check marks on the left. Items unchecked still need to be completed.

2. If you have proceeded past the portion of the session and have not received your certificate, you can check your progress here. Notice the boxes that are checked and the ones are not (circled in red). If you click the course progress you will be taken to an overview of what is remaining.

3. You can see an estimated timeline of what is yet to be completed. And the estimated time to complete the course.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is this program?

This program is supported by a CASF Grant, which aims to enhance digital literacy and promote broadband adoption. Our goal is to bridge the digital divide by teaching fundamental computer skills and Generative AI, empowering individuals to become informed digital citizens.

What if I have a language barrier?

We currently offer a Parkway Center for Persian speakers and have Spanish-speaking staff at certain locations.

For other languages such as Hmong, Ukrainian, Chinese, and more, our program utilizes a platform compatible with Google Chrome, allowing us to translate the course content into written format as needed. Our facilitators will assist as much as possible, and we may also use AI tools to support translation for participants with language barriers. Additionally, we email a document to all users with an option to select their preferred language for reading the guide.

How long do I have access to the online platform?

Currently you will have 12 months to review the course as often as you would like. You will have full access to all portions of the module including the additional Gen AI classes we have included.

Who is eligible for the program? Can I just join if I do not live in one of the areas?

What is the max number of people per household?

No more than two participants per household.

Can my children come or take the class?

This program is designed specifically for adults. For the comfort and enjoyment of all participants, we kindly ask that children not be brought.

Can I do this at home after attending the first mandatory introduction class?

Yes, you are welcome to proceed at your own pace online from home, once your eligibility has been verified and you have completed the introductory overview. Please note, however, that the program requires completion the course and completing the mandatory eight hours.

Can I come in as well to finish the courses?

If you prefer, you are welcome to complete the course in person rather than online. Our team is here to assist with any questions you may have along the way.

How long do I have access to this site?

Participants are required to complete the course within eight weeks; however, they will have access to the course content for up to 12 months from sign up.

How do I receive a chromebook?

Complete all coursework, ensuring a minimum of 8 hours within eight weeks from sign up

Upon completion of these steps, you will receive a certificate. Then you can sign up to pick up your Chromebook at one of our locations during the first or third week of the month.

When is the Tech Fair?

The Tech Fair will be announced once 150 participants complete the program in each area. You will receive an email 2-3 weeks before the event.

How do I refer to someone?

When a new eligible member registers, they will be prompted to fill out their information and indicate if they were referred by someone. Please ask them to enter your name in the referral field.

Having login issues?

If you registered via Calendly, your default password is ‘Techedify#1’.
If you forgot your password, click ‘Forgot Password’ and reset it.
