In our latest study "Angiotensin II-Induced Hypertrophy in H9c2 Cells Reveals Severe Cytotoxicity of Graphene Oxide" , we demonstrate that graphene oxide induces severe cytotoxicity in Angiotensin II-induced hypertrophic cardiac cells. February 29. Our laboratory presented two studies in the "Mitochondria, Health, and Diseases 2024 Symposium" as part of the Research Day for the TecSummit 2024. Congrats to José Luis and Ana, who showed two posters titled: "Ru360 Binds at Conserved Aspartic Site and Bloks the Mitochondrial Calcium Uniporter", and "Computational Analysis of Mitochondrial DNA Fragments Enriched with CpG Motifs and Interaction with Human TLR-9".
January 22-23. Our research lab participated with a lecturer in the "Summer School in Obesity 2024" organized by the PhD program in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Health Science at University of Talca, Chile. December 5. We are very happy to announce that Ramón Rodríguez-Villanueva has successfully passed his MSc dissertation defense, entitled: "Validation of Machine Learning Supervised Algorithms Applied for Drug-Target Identification in Cannabinoid Receptors". Congratulations!
September 11. After almost one year, the M.Sc. dissertation defense of Ana C. Murrieta was published in the Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids. Such a great job, showing cut-edge advances in the field of microstructure and characterization of spinels. Special thanks to Danyel and Miguel for joining efforts between Rice University, Instituto Politécnico Nacional and Tecnologico de Monterrey.

May 8. The International Conference on Obesity Research was our first opportunity to show the evaluation of the GPUs unit in biophysics studies. August 31. A contribution to the field of microscopy is already published in Nanomaterials. This paper reviewed the pros and cons of Scanning Tunneling microscopy (STM) for imaging biomolecules. Check it out, here!
August 21-25. We participated in the ACS Fall 2022 Sustainability in a Changing World, an international congress from the American Chemical Science. There, a contribution from Ana and Priscilla was presented for the Division of Inorganic Chemistry.
July 21. The 71th Denver X-Ray Conference (1-5 Aug, Maryland, USA) is announcing the 2022 Robert L. Snyder Student Travel Grant Recipients. Our student, Ana C. Murrieta was awarded with this highest distinction. She will be presenting a study titled "Inversion degree and microstructure evaluation of ZnFe2O4 ferrispinels".
July 20. We acknowledge the fruitful collaboration with the Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada (CIQA). The last paper was published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.
July 10. Our first GPU unit (AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @3.70GHz 12 nuclei; ASUS ATX TUF GAMING X570 128 Gb; MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti for 6144 nuclei CUDA); Corsair PLUS Gold 850W, is already forming part of the NMRG facilities. Dr. Paola Mendoza is in charge of giving the software configuration to carry out Molecular Dynamics runs. We called it as "Hydra". (February 10, 2023: Upgrade 3070 Ti for 3080 Ti).
June 27. Upon several moths of hard work, there is now out latest study on carbon nanotubes titled "Carbon Nanoubes in Tumor-Targeted Chemotherapeutic Formulations: A Review of Opportunities and Challenges" and published in ACS Applied Nano Materials. June 14. The dissertation defense "Synthesis, characterization, and structural determination of ferrispinels" of Ana C. Murrieta was approved by unanimity. This fill us with pride and it encourages us to continue with those fascinating topics of research in nanomaterials. Congratulations!
