Once you've created an account with us, you'll have immediate access to our Community forum.
Access to the Forum is quick and easy from the main navigation bar found at the top of your screen on any page:
In order to ask a question on the forum, there's a series of quick steps you must first take.
First click on the green Ask button:
2. Next, provide a title for the question you are about to post (be sure to check the resources in the reminder section).
3. After inserting the title of your question, a list of potentially related posts will appear — take a minute to review those as your question may already be answered within one of them.
4. If none of the recommendations answered your question, proceed to the next step and insert the remaining information for your post. Be sure to include detailed instructions and information within your post that will allow others to easily understand the issue and make sure to select the appropriate category in which your question should be posted in. It'd also be wise to read up on how to style your post using Markdown.
5. Your question is now posted on the forum within the topic section you selected. As long as you left the Email me when someone replies to this discussion option checked, you will receive an email notification when someone has responded to your post, as well as receive a Treehouse notification (bell in top right-hand corner) when someone has responded.
After completing a post, both students and staff will be able to respond to your post to provide you with answers or feedback. More often than not, there's one response to the post that is more informative and helpful than the others and it's good practice to elect those informative responses as the 'best answer'. Comments that receive a 'best answer' net their author with a few additional bonus points towards the language in which the post was made in (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) so it's a great way of thanking that individual for taking the time to assist you, and it also helps others who come across your post immediately find the most helpful response within the comment chain.
If you haven't received a helpful answer within 24 hours, send us an email at help@teamtreehouse.com with a link to your post and we will touch base with our Teaching team.
At times, you may get stuck on a Code Challenge task that'll leave you scratching your head and flipping through your notes. If you ever find yourself completely stumped and had no luck with going back and rewatching the appropriate video, you can always reach out to the Community directly from the Code Challenge page that you're on.
In the screenshot below, you can see that we've been asked to ' Create a table element. Don't add any other elements yet'. Let's say that we were having trouble with providing a correct answer, we can reach out for assistance to the forum using the Get Help button.
By using the Get Help button, we create a breadcrumb trail within our forum post so that those who offer assistance can see exactly where you were making your post from and they to can then visit the Code Challenge and the specific task to provide you with quicker assistance. Click Get Help, and then proceed to follow the instructions at the top of this page.
At times, you may get stuck on passing a task within a Code Challenge. Your first instinct may be to reach out to our support team and ask what's wrong, but because our support team does not consist of teachers or developers, they will be limited in what assistance they can provide. Instead, if you're stuck on this particular task, please create a post on our Forum page and provide the following information within your post:
Link us to the Code Challenge in question and verify which Task # it is.
Post the code you're entering in (remember to use markdown to wrap your code for easy reading) or include a screenshot of your code within the Code Challenge itself, having it include the "Bummer!" message located at the top when it doesn't accept your answer.
Once this is up on the Forum page, give it some time for people to see it and respond. If a day has passed and you still haven't received help on what it is you're doing wrong, send a link to your forum post via email to help@teamtreehouse.com.
