How have you grown as a leader on this journey?
Data and shifts in attendance, engagement, behavior mastery through the weeks from your trackers
My first class was a disaster due to internet problem but the attendance remained constant through all the weeks. Students were curious to learn and showcase their learning. They were so active that it was hard to handle them and I was lost on how to continue the class. I started with setting norms and culture of classroom, with time they are learning and following it. More than half of the regular students give right answers to all the questions I ask before the end of class to check their understanding. With them I'm also learning to adapt, implement and reflect to my choices. I hope in future my classroom will become a place where students feel safe and enjoy learning.
Connection to LIT strands :
Through institute journey we used to change our LIT strand every week to make sure we are connecting to them. I used to make deeper connections with them. But out of all the LIT strands the ones I connected the most are :
I enjoyed a lot creating ppts for my class and executing them. All these strands took place in lot of places in my class. All the C's are getting stronger. In my two year fellowship journey I will try to make connections and implement all the strands while making these four more stronger.
These 8 weeks of institute taught me many beautiful life lessons like grounding yourself, writing SMART goals, tracking work etc which will be used through out my life and teaching in class. Because of pandemic we cannot meet our kids all together or teach them in a class but I'm hoping even through a screen I can make strong relations with my students to fulfill their needs and find the core of their problems. These two years going to be too long and short at the same time because I know I have to face many challenges and there will be days or weeks where I will cry and on all those days I have to stay strong and preserve because perseverance is the key to success.
As my PM says, 'It is a marathon and not a sprint'. That's how I'm going to work with focus and consistency.
