HouConnect Calls Overview

While Cohort Calls are your required onboarding calls that prepare you for onboarding, hiring, placement and your transition to Houston. Your HouConnect Calls are optional but encouraged calls that allow you to start building community. These calls will touch on everything from finding housing, learning the landscape of Houston, financial planning, to even connecting with alumni.

The Beans - Money + Life Balance

Monthly Community Sessions | 3:30 - 4:30 PM CST

January 12 - February 9 - March 9 - April 13 - May 11

Teach For America Houston is happy to announce our Partnership with The Beans! The Beans is a financial care company founded by a TFA Alum and they have partnered with us to support your transition to Houston as you begin Pre-Service work in May.

If you are accepting your stipend from Teach For America, you will be required to complete a Summer Financial Plan worksheet and attend The Beans Workshop during summer training.

Monthly Community Sessions

The Beans is also providing optional Community Sessions the second Thursday of every month so that you can start preparing your finances, brainstorm your plan, or just ask general questions of a financial advisor and coach.

Moving To Houston

We will be joined by the University of Houston to discuss summer housing options along with apartment finder, Daisy Ruiz. If you are looking for a roommate, you will have the opportunity to complete the roommate finder
