You are joining a community of innovative educators and limitless learners who are passionate about creating opportunities for kids in Nashville and Chattanooga.
We are a network of over 1,100 Teach For America corps members and alumni working across Middle and East Tennessee. With more than 160 corps members teaching in more than 50 schools across Nashville and Chattanooga, we work closely with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and Hamilton County Public Schools to ensure that our corps members teach in schools where the need for excellent teachers is most critical. Our alumni are active in all sectors, including healthcare, government, and technology, but the majority of our nearly 1,000 alumni continue to work in education. For the past 12 years, Teach For America teachers have ranked among the highest performing in the state and each year our network grows stronger.

Because of the incredible local institutions of higher education, including a plethora of iconic historically black colleges and universities, Nashville is sometimes called the “Athens of the South.”Over the past 12 years, the city has experienced unprecedented economic and population growth, garnering the reputation as the “it city.”Nashville is a top destination for vacationers seeking live music, festivals, and innovative restaurants.
Teach For America expanded to Chattanooga in the 2019 - 2020 school year, and we continue to place 15 corps members in Hamilton County Department of Education's Schools. They join a community of nearly 50 alumni who range from the TFA founding year of 1990 to our newest, 2019 alums. Often referred to as “Scenic City” for its rivers, mountains, and trails, Chattanooga is a city experiencing tremendous population growth as the fourth largest city in Tennessee and the second-fastest growing big city in the state. A revitalized waterfront area and a billion-dollar investment in downtown Chattanooga is attracting young professionals, innovators, and the most creative minds from across the country. Home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the fastest internet service in the western hemisphere, a thriving innovation business district and a booming downtown along the Tennessee River, Chattanooga has a lot to offer.
We are excited to announce that Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga continues to be a top ranked Education Preparation Program by the Tennessee State Board of Education.
