Certification Overview & Graduate School Partners
In addition to taking and passing all relevant praxis examinations, corps members must also obtain provisional licensure through an Alternative Certification process. This tiered certification process requires all TFA Nashville-Chattanooga Corps Members (unless already licensed) to enroll in a certification program (SPED requires 2 years) with one of our official certification partners, Lipscomb University or Relay Graduate School of Education. TFA Nashville-Chattanooga has negotiated competitive tuition costs with each of our partners and the out-of-pocket amount will be the same for each university. The good news here is that you can use your AmeriCorps Segal Education Award funds to cover most, if not all tuition costs AND you can earn a MAT (RELAY) or M.ED (Lipscomb) in year 2!
