The mission of our school orchestra program is to foster a musical community where students can "Receive, Believe, and Achieve". The program provides comprehensive musical experiences that will allow students to acquire valuable skills, trust in themselves and others, and reach their highest potential. Through a supportive and enriching environment, we “aspire to inspire” a passion for music so that students can excel individually and as members of a larger community.
The program incorporates the philosophy that every student has the potential to thrive; not only as a musician but also as a confident, responsible, and collaborative individual. We aim to provide students with the resources to surpass their musical goals by fostering a growth mindset that values effort, perseverance, and ongoing improvement. Our hope is that each student develops into a self-assured and skilled member of society, ready to make a positive impact in the world.
Our instructional goals include:
Provide opportunities for students to generate creative ideas and make, refine and share creative decisions.
Study, interpret and perform based on an understanding of theoretical and structural characteristics, expressiveness and technical skill.
Apply consistent rehearsal and practice strategies, independently and with others, allowing musicians to continually improve their quality of work.
Perform diverse repertoire, representing various cultures, genres, and historical periods.
Create meaningful and relatable connections, to the music and each other.
Build intra- and inter- personal skills and relationships to guide our productivity and appreciation of music, ourselves and each other.
