Honors Treble Choir
Provides treble voices with basic music instruction in various musical styles and genres, as well as vocal pedagogy and music theory. In addition, students are required to participate in TMEA All State auditions and Solo and Ensemble contests. Participation at all choir performances and the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation are required. Honors students will attend outside concerts/performances and write critiques using TMAA rubrics. Attendance at all performances is required. Private voice lessons are highly recommended. All students will perform an individual jury at the end of each semester. Vocal Music Majors will perform in a grade level recital at the end of the year.
Prerequisites: Open to students in grades 9-12 with previous middle school choral experience, regardless of major.
Honors Tenor-Bass Choir
Provides tenor/bass voices with basic music instruction in various musical styles and genres, as well as vocal pedagogy and music theory. Honors Varsity Mixed Choir ("Kantorei")
Provides students advanced musical instruction in various musical styles and genres of mixed voice choral music. Incorporates various choral music techniques in order to better understand and appreciate culturally diverse styles of SAB/SATB music literature. In addition, students are required to participate in TMEA All State auditions, UIL Concert & Sight Reading, UIL Solo and Ensemble auditions, attend outside concerts and write concert/ performance critiques; write papers on assigned composers, musical styles and periods. Attendance at all performances is required. Private voice lessons are highly recommended. All students will perform an individual jury at the end of each semester. Vocal Music Majors will perform in a grade level recital at the end of the year.

Honors Varsity Chamber Choir ("A Cappella Choir")
Provides choristers with advanced training in the mastery of vocal pedagogy, rigorous sight-reading and ear training, and immersion in all genres of choral music. In addition, students must participate in TMEA All State auditions, UIL Concert & Sight Reading, UIL Solo and Ensemble auditions, attend concerts and write Concert/ performance critiques, and write papers on assigned composers, musical styles and periods. Attendance at all performances is required. Private voice lessons are highly recommended. All students will perform an individual jury at the end of each semester. Vocal Jazz Ensemble
This ensemble meets after school and focuses on vocal jazz technique in a small ensemble. A rhythm section (drum set player, pianist, string bass, and rhythm guitar) are also part of this group. They perform at school and community events and participate in a contest or festival in the spring. This ensemble may become a class in the future.
Grades: 9-12

Lone Star Youth Chorus
This district honor choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm at I.M. Terrell Academy. Repertoire includes SATB literature that is rigorous and challenging. Of even more importance - this group builds and forges long-lasting friendships that last after graduation and align our district in a choral culture of excellence, inclusion, and personal growth.
