Fort Worth After-School Program

James Rice with the Fort Worth After School (FWAS) Program began his career with FWISD back in August 2005. He served as a basketball coach and music director at William James Middle School. Due to his faithfulness, integrity, and excellent work performance, James was offered the position of site supervisor in 2006 for William James. He continued as site supervisor for four years and later advanced to Program Coordinator and later Regional Program Coordinator for the southeast sector of the YMCA.

During his tenure as Regional Program Coordinator, Mr. James started the Men of Standard Program, in which the McDonald YMCA adopted as the mentoring program for young men who attend their grant funded programs. Mr. James also connect several community partners and local churches to the YMCA.

Currently, he is the site supervisor at the Leadership Academy at Mitchell Boulevard. This site had the largest number of students who attended the FWAS Program on a daily basis. Mr. James loves his career with Fort Worth After School because it provides affordable programs and experiences for children, youth, and families, despite their inability to pay.
