Soaring Gryphons Spotlight

Teacher Spotlight: Dr. Stephanie Sulik

Every Freshman at WLI knows Dr. Sulik. She teaches AP World Geography and AP World History. This is her second year at WLI. Let's get to know her better!

"Hello Gryphons! My name is Stephanie Sulik, and I am excited to be at WLI because language learning is my passion. I am from Milwaukee, and received my Bachelor's degree in African American History from Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, before moving to Texas to pursue my doctorate in Transatlantic History. In the next few years, I intend to continue my historical research on the Marcus Garvey movement.

My prior experience in education includes working as a teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington, designing and installing historical exhibits, facilitating language exchange groups, and teaching emerging technologies like 3D printing and laser cutting in the university makerspace.

In addition to my historical research and work at WLI, I make time for my favorite hobbies: basketball, skateboarding, painting, and learning to dance Cumbia Texana.

I really appreciate the many welcoming and caring staff, parents, and students that I met last year, and I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you this year!"

College Knowledge

College Spotlight:

Many former Gryphons attend Texas Wesleyan University. It's a small, private university located in Fort Worth that includes majors such as Business, Education, Nursing and Psychology.

Private or Public University?

Public colleges are partially funded through taxes, while private colleges rely more on tuition and donations. Though often costlier, private schools may offer generous financial aid. Many public universities are larger and therefore offer more diverse programs.
