Class overview
Physical Education
The Kirkpatrick physical education program is based on the premise that physical activity and participation are important for all students, regardless of their level of athletic skill or ability. Through various activities, students in our program will learn how to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives. In addition, we hope to instill enjoyment of physical activity, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining physical fitness no matter how old you are.
Wellness
The goal of 6th grade Wellness is for students to demonstrate an understanding of the components of personal wellness. The health education curriculum is designed to help adolescents develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills to make responsible decisions and act in ways that prevent disease and reduce health-related risky behaviors. Topics include tobacco, drugs, and alcohol prevention, reproduction and abstinence, emotional and mental health, violence and injury prevention, nutrition and physical fitness, and personal health.
Athletics
This course is designed to provide the student athlete with additional fitness gains such as strength, endurance, flexibility, body composition, agility and cardio-respiratory endurance.
