Description:
Temperature determines the health of a water body as higher temperatures put more stress on Fish and benthic invertebrates. Higher temperatures result in reduced capacity to hold oxygen, as well as increased alga and bacterial activity, which in turn further reduce oxygen levels. The lower the temperature, the better the water quality. This is difficult to assess during fall and spring turnover.
