School Head Caretakers can submit a Notification to Maintenance for shredded mulch to be delivered to your schoolyard (a CC and GL must be included as the cost is charged to your school). Here are some guidelines to keep in mind when ordering shredded mulch including: amount, location, service and date.
Note: Delivery is always weather permitting.
If you are unsure about what product or amount is needed, contact: Karen.Dobrucki@tdsb.on.ca
To calculate the amount of product you need you can use the formula:
Number of Cubic Yards = Length (in feet) x Width (in feet) x Depth (in feet) ÷ 27
The maximum amount per delivery is limited to 5 cubic yards
If more than 5 cubic yards are needed, it is recommended that schools put in multiple requests for different seasons (e.g., half in spring, half in fall)
Please include your FOS with your school name
Be specific about where the product is going and what it will be used for (e.g., courtyard, planting beds, main play yard, etc.)
Specify the drop-off location* and attach a photo of the location with the Notification (if possible include in the photo an entrance or feature to give context on the school site)
*Note: some products are weather/season permitting and it is recommended to select drop-off locations on paved surfaces or at the edge of a hard surface to avoid trucks getting stuck in wet ground.
Drop-off only (fastest way to get your delivery, but you do the work)
Drop-off and Installation (e.g. work crew will spread mulch around trees, pending workload and staffing)
Use the date when you want the delivery to arrive
Be sure to complete and submit the Notification at least one month in advance
Your caretaker must submit the Notification, but you can make their life easier by having all the information complete
Print this form to figure out what you need and where, and give it to your caretaker
