Students enrolled in French Immersion must follow the plan outlined below if they wish to remain in the program and receive a Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion.

Students may earn one of two Certificates of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion:

1. Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion

• Minimum of 10 courses in French-language instruction over 4 years; and

• Four courses must be French language classes (i.e., FIF1D, FIF2D, FIF3U and FIF4U).

2. Honours Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion

• Minimum of 11 courses in French-language instruction over 4 years; and

• Four courses must be French language classes (i.e., FIF1D, FIF2D, FIF3U and FIF4U).

These are minimum requirements. Most students opt in working towards the Honours certificate. If they choose to work towards an Honours certificate, students are required to enrol in the courses indicated for each grade (see chart below). They may not take fewer than the minimum outlined above, if they want to be obtain a Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion.
