The TDSB is committed to encouraging students to develop positive character traits that will enable them to become outstanding citizens for our communities and the greater society. Here are the character traits that we pay special attention to each month:
Respect (September): treating others the way you want to be treated
Responsibility (October): knowing and doing your jobs
Empathy (November): understanding how others feel and showing them that you understand
Kindness and Caring (December): being thoughtful, nice, and helpful to others
Teamwork (January): sharing ideas and work, making a fair contribution
Fairness (February): taking turns and interacting with others showing no favoritism or discrimination towards others
Honesty (March): being truthful
Co-operation (April): working together to get things done
Integrity (May): choosing to do the right thing, even when alone
Perseverance (June): trying hard and not giving up
We hope that families will work alongside the school to promote these character traits (as well as the many other positive values) by discussing their importance with children and demonstrating how students can adopt these traits as their own.
