Families, please read and discuss this student handbook with your child:
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
NOTEBOOKS
∙ Use a pencil and eraser for all notes in your notebooks.
∙ Use a ruler when a straight line is needed.
∙ Write the date and the topic heading for that day’s lesson (and the textbook page, if we are using one).
∙ Space out work for neatness and organization. This helps you to study more effectively from your notes.
LEARNING MATERIALS
The following are some learning materials that you will find useful to have available for your personal use:
A pair of scissors, a sharpener with a receptacle for pencil shavings, coloured pencils, markers, a glue stick, additional pencils for drawing and writing, a ruler, an eraser, earbuds for when we are working on computers. Please label your personal supplies with your name. Do not share your supplies with anyone else.
∙ Desks are personal storage areas for notebooks and textbooks. Please keep them neat. (There will be times when desk clean outs will occur.)
If Ms. Yang or someone else lends you something to help you learn (textbook, ruler, pencils, dictionaries, etc.), make sure you treat use them properly and with care.
Do not damage things that do not belong to you.
ABSENCES
∙ If you are absent from class, you are still expected to learn and complete the homework. Contact a classmate and come in for extra help if needed upon your return to school.
∙ IT IS YOUR LEARNING AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLETE ALL ASSIGNMENTS, QUIZZES AND TESTS.
GYM
∙ You will be having Gym on days 1 and 3. Please make sure you bring all necessary materials and that you are dressed appropriately and safely for gym with proper footwear for physical activity.
LIBRARY AND BORROWING BOOKS
∙ You will have Book Exchange at the Library on Day 2. Please remember to bring your library books to school that day.
IN THE SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM
∙ Wash or sanitize your hands carefully before and after eating, or using the washroom.
DURING RECESS AND OUTDOOR LEARNING
∙ Follow the instructions of the teachers on duty during recess right away.
∙ Play fairly and show respect towards all your classmates and adults.

I took good care of my belongings and items that Ms. Yang and other people gave me or let me use. I used them appropriately and treated them with respect.
