Good day everyone. There is a lot of information for Boys Basketball, scroll all the way down for Girls Volleyball.
Here's the schedule for this upcoming shortened week:

BOYS BASKETBALL:
I will be choosing upwards to 15 students to take with me to Cosburn Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 15th, to play an exhibition game vs. Cosburn Middle school. I will most likely choose the roster after Tuesday's practice. If you already know that you're unavailable to play this Thursday, please let me know Monday morning. Boys Basketball practice/tryouts will continue for everyone on Wednesday and into next week.
We will most likely be taking the TTC. If the weather is decent, we may walk. Parents are welcome to come. If you are driving there you may have to park on the adjacent roads and not the school parking lot.
We are looking to leave the school by 3:15 and to start the game just after we arrive, hopefully around 3:45 pm. The game should be finished no later than 4:30 pm. I will be going back to the school for any students being picked up at school or are in Dandylion Daycare. I'm estimating that we will be back 5:00 pm (hopefully earlier).

We will be taking the TTC to Bowmore and back. Parents are welcome to come. Game times are approximate and may start slightly earlier.

TOURNAMENT: Has yet to be determined. We are looking at Wednesday, Feb. 11th as a possible tournament date.

EXTRA INFORMATION:
WILKINSON LIONS SPORTS TEAMS (google site): This site is strictly for information pertaining to Wilkinson sports teams. The same information will be available on my website. To join you must let me know if you want an invite to your student email account. Once you check your email and accept the invite, parents can add their email address or I can input it manually.
MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS: Be sure your class is quiet in the morning as meetings are often called and occasional cancellations of practices. I will do my best to let parents and students well ahead of time on both my website and google site.
NOTES HOME: Occasionally I will have notes to go home. These notes will be the same information posted on the website and google classroom. We are an ECO school so I try to limit the amount of paper used.
TRYOUTS/TEAM MAKE UP: There will be tryouts. They are extended for several weeks. I will choose the team closer to the tournament date. At this time I will make a tournament team and a practice team. The tournament team will play in the tournament. The practice team will continue to come to practice if they wish to. It’s a great way to continue practicing skills plus there have been occasions where a tournament team player may not be able to make the tournament. If such a situation arises, I may choose a player from the practice squad as a placement.
As much as grades 4-6’s can try out, these are grade 6 teams. I’ll be taking 12 students for the girls volleyball team and 10-12 for the Boys basketball team. I, Mr. Kasaval will be coaching both teams.

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS ABOUT EXTRACURRICULAR TEAMS:
All sports teams are for grades 4-6 only with the exception of the Cross Country team which includes grades 1-3. These are competitive teams. In many cases due to the number of students, cuts are made to teams. Format of play is a tournament between other schools or an area meet (cross country and track and field) where teams or individuals can advance. Some coaches may have longer tryout sessions than others. Please email the coach or ask during sign up or team meetings.
COMMUNICATION: HERE ON THIS SITE, AND MY GOOGLE SITE (WILKINSON LIONS SPORTS TEAMS), **SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS PLEASE PAY ATTENTION DURING CLASS**, TEAM MEETINGS, PRACTICES.
CODE OF CONDUCT: Students are to adhere to TDSB'S/WILKINSON JUNIOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS CODE OF CONDUCT when participating on extracurricular teams. The code of conduct will be shared during team meetings.
VOLUNTEERING: For big events, coaches may ask for parent volunteers due to the number of students on a team. Coaches will reach out to parents if they are in need of a community coach. Paperwork must be handed in prior to this. (see below).
ABSENT/OTHER ENGAGEMENTS: If you know you're going away or have other engagements during practices/tryouts please let the coaches know ahead of time.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: PLEASE CHECK WITH THE COACHES AS TO WHETHER OUTDOOR PRACTICES WILL BE HELD IN THE GYM AS A RESULT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE DOOR CLOSEST TO THE PARKING LOT AND ACROSS FROM THE BASKETBALL COURT WILL BE OPEN.

Joining the google classroom will give you real time updates. Unfortunately my website does not do that. You will find the same updated information on both sites. Also in order to upload anything, only student accounts will be able to do so. You can upload the same information here.
This is a site for ALL SPORTS TEAMS throughout the year. This is benefical if you have sons and/or daughters that you know will participate in multiple teams. If you accept the invite you will be receiving updates throughout the year on all the sports teams Wilkinson participates in.
However, I can remove you from the google classroom once the sport is over that you or your sons or daughters were trying out or playing for. Just email me to be removed.
