SICK KIDS CO-OP FOR SEM 1 2025-26
Program Overview
The program gives Grades 11 and 12 students over the age of 16 from semester schools the chance to explore healthcare, research or hospital careers through hands-on experience in various departments across the hospital and Research Institute while earning academic credit. Placements may be patient-facing, administrative, or research-based roles.
Students successfully enrolled in the program will be scheduled for a 2-credit (half day, morning or afternoon) or 4-credit (full day) placement for the semester they are scheduled to complete co-op. This is a five day-a-week (Monday-Friday) schedule for Semester 1 (September-January) or Semester 2 (February-June), apart from in-school days, statutory holidays, and PA days.
At the point of application, candidates will have the opportunity to express their general interest in the type of placement(s) they wish to be considered for, but all successful candidates will be matched to a role within the established schedule based on availability, general interests, and career aspirations which may align with placements we are offering.
Please note: we are unable to provide co-op placements for high school students for the summer months (July-August).
Eligibility
For candidates interested in applying, the below eligibility must be met:
Be 16 years of age by the first day of the placement, and in Grade 11 or 12
Be enrolled in a co-operative education program at an Ontario high school, and follow a semester school schedule
We are unable to accept students from termed schools
Be available to attend an interview in late May/early June
Attend orientation at the start of the semester
Be able to come on site to SickKids campus (Main Hospital, PSC, PGCRL) everyday of the placement, and comfortable with commuting to and from their placement each day independently
We do not offer remote or hybrid placements
Be able to provide the hospital with documented proof of tuberculosis testing and immunization status after acceptance into the program
All costs associated with the onboarding paperwork is at the expense of the student, and is not covered or reimbursed by SickKids
Be comfortable interacting with patients, families, and staff of all ages and backgrounds
Be willing to learn and make a positive contribution through this placement opportunity

Overview of co-op placement: students are placed in the Senior’s Health Centre. Students at placement will:
Support a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that enhance the resident’s sense of well-being and improve the resident’s experience.
Support assigned one-on-one resident visits, engaging the resident in cognitive stimulating activities such as games, puzzles, reading, music, and/or reminiscing.

This full-day 4-credit Coop program provides a great opportunity for students to experience the Transportation/transit industry through participation in a variety of skilled trades at TTC Garages. Students remain on the home school's roll while participating in work placements at one of twelve TTC Repair and Maintenance Garages. All students become OYAP Participants and will receive documentation confirming the completion of their hours, should they wish to pursue the trade as a career.
As part of this program, students will also participate in a dual credit program, earning one college credit in addition to their cooperative education courses!

ARMY RESERVE COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
The 32 Canadian Brigade Group will be offering the Army Reserve Co-op Program for Semester 2, 2026 at Fort York Armoury, Denison Armoury, and Moss Park Armoury. The program is a full day 4-credit program beginning February to June, 5 days a week from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Students will work 5 days but will be paid for 7 days and will receive military pay starting at $127.22 per day which equates to approximately $15,000 for the duration of Co-op. Students will have earned all 3 levels of Basic Military Qualifications. Upon completion of the Co-op Program students will be offered summer full-time jobs for July and August. Students will be offered part-time jobs in the Army Reserves - 1 night/week and 1 weekend/month starting September following the Co-op Program.
Eligibility Requirements for Students:
Must be 16 years of age upon application submission
Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Must have 15 credits upon commencing placement
Must have parental consent for applicants under the age of 18
