Produce a creative presentation that responds to a topic;
Work in teams to organize work and determine roles for presentation;
Demonstrate professional approaches to presentation skills;
Explain different options in their ongoing education as a contributor to their career path;
Apply secondary research methods to the gathering of information on the creative industries.
The program will only be running in the summers moving forward. Students who apply for summer co-op who have an interest in the arts will have an opportunity to participate.
The program is appropriate for Arts and Culture SHSM students and all students who are interested in exploring careers in the Arts and Culture sector. Sick Kids Hospital Coop-
2026-2027 High School Co-op Application Package: see Ms. Graham for details
Here are some reminders of the application process:
A completed application must contain: the completed application form, two (2) teacher endorsement forms (completed by a teacher), a resume, and a copy of their credit counselling and attendance summary. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
All applications must be submitted by a co-op teacher during the defined application period to the central inbox highschool.coop@sickkids.ca.
There will be no early or late acceptances- please consider the dates as outlined to be final.
All roles will be recruited for and filled through this application period, as there are no plans at this time for additional recruitment.
Even if a student is unsure of their semester/placement type, they can still apply.
Students must be 16 years of age by the start of the semester they are applying for.
If you have a student who turns 16 later in the year, then they are only eligible for Semester 2. No exception will be made to this age requirement.
Here is what the recruitment process will look like:
Application Period: Tuesday, May 19th at 9:00 am until Wednesday, May 27th at 4:00pm
Deadline to receive Interview Invitation: Friday, May 29th at 5:00pm
Interview Period: Monday, June 1st to Friday, June 12th
Offers Sent: Tuesday, June 16th
Here are some additional reminders/requests:
A maximum of 5 applications per school (across the full school year) will be accepted.
Only candidates successful in receiving an interview will be notified as such between May 28-29th. Candidates who do not receive an interview invite are unfortunately unsuccessful.
Before submitting an application, please ensure that your student/students is/are aware of the following considerations:
We expect students to abide by the program’s attendance expectations, in that they are committing to a schedule that is Monday-Friday for a defined 3 hours a day over the course of the semester, with the exception of in class days, holidays, and PA Days. Time off requests for things such as vacations or extra-curriculars may not be approved (for example: adjusting daily hours/days on site over an extended period of time in order for a student to meet the requirements towards their hours).
SickKids, while accessible via transit, can be a distance away for many applicants, and the commute time should be a serious consideration before submitting an application. We do not accommodate requests for condensed schedules, remote work, etc. to offset the potential commute students may have.
Students will have the opportunity to express interest in the type of general role they might be interested in (patient-facing, administrative, or research) and while these will be taken into consideration, students will be matched to a placement based on a number of factors, and may not get their top choice. Applicants should be comfortable with a potential placement within any of these areas.
Students will only receive their confirmed placement at orientation.
All placements are an opportunity for students to gain experience in a pediatric healthcare environment, and we expect students to have an open-minded understanding of the scope of their role and responsibilities. This means that at times, not all tasks may be unique or exactly what a student envisions, but students are encouraged to take ownership of their own learning and focus on goals they wish to achieve.
Students are not allowed to shadow healthcare professionals.
