Hello Cedar Drive community,
It is heartbreaking to hear upsetting news about people being treated unfairly. When I was a young girl in Grade 1, my teacher kept a photo of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a Black man wanting for all Black lives to matter equally with the rest. His photo was kept in our classroom. My teacher said that he was there to remind us that we were all born equally. Years later, many people still need to be reminded that we must all need for all Black lives to matter equally with the rest.
Remember that just because there are some scary things in the world, we should not be frightened.
We should care dearly, listen closely, and love strongly.
As we come to the fact that our province continues to be in a state of emergency and is depending on us to keep ourselves and each other safe. I hope that you and your family are keeping well and thank you for being understanding & patient as we are learning to live with this new but temporary reality.
If you would like to contact me, please e-mail melis.mete@tdsb.on.ca (please note that I respond the quickest only during school hours). It would be wonderful to hear updates on your children and how they are doing.
As we move forward, I am looking forward to communicate with the children again and continue to teach them as best as I can under these new circumstances. Let us begin our new way of learning!
Take care & peace be with you,
Ms. Mete
The lessons will be divided into 5 sections; Literacy, Self-Care & Wellness, Math, Belonging & Contributing, and Problem-Solving & Innovating. There will also be sections for Music lessons with Ms. Baker and Physical Education & Health lessons with Ms. MacEwen. Every day I will post new lessons in each section for your child to follow along. I will also include the websites and videos for your child to follow with instructions.
Some activities may need you to submit a photo of either a drawing, writing, or other activity. If this will be an inconvenience, please contact me through e-mail.
We are living in strange times and my priority is to ensure the health and well-being of everyone. With that, I DO NOT expect you to go over all lessons with your child everyday. For me, as long as your child can explore our Online Learning for an hour and maintain good health, that is all we could ask for at this time.
