Students explore the Outdoor Classroom, where both living and non-living things exist together. They learn about the importance of and ways to contribute to a healthy environment. They also study the basic needs of living things, such as air, water, food, heat, shelter, and space.
Students investigate the characteristics of structures, for example, shape, texture, height, and the materials used. Students also explore everyday objects, such as tables, chairs, clothing, and toys, as well as structures such as homes, bridges, and natural structures.
Students explore the importance and use of energy in their lives, for example, how energy can keep our homes warm and how it can help trees and plants grow. They learn how the Sun warms the air, land, and water, and provides light as the main source of energy for Earth. Students also investigate how to use energy responsibly.
