Quartz. This mineral is how you make glass.
Calcite. All these are examples of Calcite. Minor impurities give calcite different colour appearances.
Bornite. A minerl containing copper, sulfur and iron. A great source of copper to make wires, brass, and electronics.
Iron Ore. This goes into a smelter to make iron and steel. The reddish colour comes from oxidation/rust.Cars, forks and buildings are made
Gypsum. Chalky mineral that is used for drywall in homes.
Halite. Also known as rock salt. Yummy if pure.
Mica. This mineral is very common and comes off in large flakes. Used in cosmetics (makeup)
Pyrite. Also known as "Fools Gold". Used for the production of sulfur (matches).
Gold Ore. From a mine in Ontario. What is gold used for? Jewelry, electronics, to name a couple.
Labradorite. Irridescent mineral thats part of the feldspar family.
Diamond. Hardest mineral in the world. Used for jewelry and cutting tools.
Coal. Coal, oil and natural gas are used for energy and plastics.
Magnitite. Iron rich mineral that has magnetic properties.
Sodalite. A neat looking gemstone. Mined in Ontario.
Ruby. Red in colour the Ruby is used for jewelry.
Ulexite. Also called "TV rock". This mineral is full of Boron and displays light and text on one side only.
