Animals
Choose the animal group below to find resources that will help you to identify that animal.
Mammals
Most people are familiar with mammals in southern Ontario. Although if you come accross evidence, most people have a hard time to discern tracks, scat or fur from those animals. Use the guides below to help you. Most useful on the left.

Birds
Bird ID can be very difficult. Knowing different sounds, having equipment such as binoculars to help, and even differences between sexes can throw off the amature birder. Use the resources below to help you with bird ID.

Invertebrates
Being the most diverse and most plentiful group around, invertebrate ID can be a bit difficult. There are some great resources below. The website is the best for terrestrial inverts, I created a key for aquatic invertebrates having done benthic studies myself with the GRCA.

Reptiles and Amphibians
While there may only be one native lizard species in Ontario (the 5 Lined Skink), there are plenty or frogs, salamanders, snakes and turtles you can identify. Most of the field sheets below come from Toronto Zoo's website. You can use the website itself for ID of any Ontario reptile/amphibian here.
Fish
Whether you want to identify minnows or sportfish, check out the guides below.
