My design is a visual picture of how equality should be. Don’t you think this world would be a better place if we all came together and ended racism. My design is a visual representation on how we should come together. My design shows different races holding each other's hand and fighting alongside each other instead of fighting with each other. The tendency of judging anything or anyone comes from the very idea inculcated in the mind of a person’s childhood. Although things like this seem new it has been going around for years and the only way to change it is if you’re willing to change yourself.
Although the movement of Black Lives Matter seems like a new thing, my design represents a battle that's been going on for years. The Black Lives Matter movement is usually accompanied by the symbol. A strong fist to the air. This symbol has actually been used a bunch in the past, as far as the 1960’s. The fist in the air represents freedom and Black power. It was meant to show people that as Black people we were free from oppression and slavery. In the 1990s when Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years of being behind bars, he raised his fist alongside his wife in the name of freedom. Since then the fist has been adopted by a lot of people. The designs vary between all of them but you can still see the message in each of them.
Everybody is affected by mental health, however BIPOC — Black, Indigenous, people of colour — have higher rates of some mental health disorders and encounter greater disparities when reaching out for support. Those issues are primarily due to the inadequate access to services resulting from discrimination, interpersonal racism and stigma. All of these can harm the psyche of people of color in places where they are not the majority. This animation illustrates a light bulb in the shape of a human brain. The light bulb symbolizes education, a determinant of the quality of one’s mental and physical health. The vivid colours on the left side of the brain represent privileged groups of people, who usually experience less discriminatory treatment and other forms of barriers when accessing mental health resources. The vibrant rays express that this group of people are able to reach their full potential and achieve educational and occupational successes. In contrast, the other side of the brain is grey and does not emit any rays. This represents the marginalized communities who often have to overcome greater impediments in accessing mental health services. People of colour are more likely to face challenges accessing and receiving appropriate professional services. Mental health influences countless aspects of our life, insufficient access to proper mental health service is a hindrance to achieving one’s goals and being a productive member of society.
