At CR, we believe participation in school athletics is an important component of our school culture and extension of our Physical Education program. There is a true saying in that "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take". We encourage and invite all students who are interested in participating on a team to do so...you never know what can happen until you try, whether you are an experienced athlete or are trying the sport for the first time. Our goal is to promote participation in competitive sports as a part of an active and healthy lifestyle. Be a STAR!!
Student-athletes have to develop a routine of setting up their weekly schedule. It's a good life skill to have as it promotes good accountability, responsibility and advanced training for scheduling in secondary school should they continue to participate in extra-curricular activity. The schedule is updated weekly; sometimes daily on occasion. A weekly hard copy is located outside my office. Otherwise, you can refer to the calendar below for what is happening and what is upcoming.
The CR Marchant Stars participate in the TDESSA Division 1 West Conference in the following sports:
The goal of the M.A.C. is to create/maintain/build a culture for students in continuously keeping a healthy, active lifestyle for CR Marchant while increasing the spirit of the school via sport. Enhance the students’ academic achievements and social development by providing more opportunities in building the advantages of teamwork, discipline, and hard work. In addition, The M.A.C. provides additional leadership opportunities for students who are invested in becoming a leader, a better team player, improving organization while demonstrating their like for sport as opposed to feeling the need to “love” sport. Selected applicants are interviewed and the committee is chosen by the end of September.
M.A.C. members in past have taken on several projects such as "Project Refill", "Jump Rope for Heart" and "Healthy Schools". They would also be responsible for all home game/tournament setup and game management. The M.A.C. will additionally learn how to be scorekeepers for various sports. They will also be assigned to in-season teams to work with the Yearbook team and coaches for the assigned team to take pictures in practices and games/tournaments. This gives opportunity for the member to get an opportunity see and learn what it is like to travel with a team and see how events are run at other venues/schools. The M.A.C. would be responsible for managing (via Mr. Ramage’s supervision) lunchtime intramural [now known as Special Activity Lunch Time (S.A.L.T.) days] to increase use of our facilities while giving students that are not on a varsity team an opportunity to participate in an active living environment. The M.A.C. would be responsible for creating an “Athletic Banquet” which would be a special year-end BBQ event in early June for all students, coaches and administration who have committed their time to CR Marchant Athletics.
